A recap of August 2020 - what a year, what a month it's been! While we are all making changes in our lives, and adapting to doing things differently I am happy to say that it was a refreshing change in fundraising energy and efforts on all fronts for me! Don't get me wrong, I love my bike and the team I have gotten to know over the last couple of years, but this year made it a little more special.
It was all on me - the fundraising, the planning, the nutrition, the getting it done....and I am happy to say YES over 312km of walking, hiking, running happened getting me over 400,000 steps and raising almost $4,000.00 for the Canadian Cancer Society and my R2S Team!!!
I spent many hours alone or with Apple (thankfully the Border Collie that never stops!), who by the way solved a lot of problems for me while we were walking and hiking around this amazing place we call home. It gave me many hours of reflection, a huge sense of gratitude that I am able to do these simple things whenever I want.
It was also very humbling - the support I received from everyone - some I know so well, and some I've never met - was overwhelming. It can't be done without all of you...a simple thank you doesn't seem enough, but from the bottom of my heart I say - thank you thank you thank you!! Cancer is still here, research still needs to be done - that doesn't stop either.
With that here we are, September already!
Rember safety doesn't take a holiday - keep your heads high, and place one foot in front of the next and that way we all will keep moving forward :)
Take care everyone - Cheers - Sonya
