May 19th, 1995.
For those of you who know me, I don't even need to tell you what happened that day. For those who don't know me so well, it was the day my sisters and I lost our Mom. To put it simply, she was amazing. Kind. Funny. Beautiful. Smart. Loyal. She would literally walk through a wall for her kids, and her family. It saddens me that my kids will never meet her, and that so many of you who never knew her won't get to meet her. She is the reason I am the man I am today, and I miss her like crazy.
Unfortunately she isn't the only loved one or friend that I have lost to this disease. Lee. Marty. Donna. Fred. My list, just like a lot of yours, is far too long. That is why I am participating in the 2019 Ride to Survive to support the mission of the Canadian Cancer Society.
Our Vision and Mission
Our vision is that everyone is inspired to do something that makes a positive difference in their world… and that we are riding for fun because cancer has been beaten.
Our mission is to raise money for cancer research.
- We are 100% volunteer driven.
- 100% research driven.
- 100% health driven.
- And 100% of your donation goes to research through the Canadian Cancer Society.
Please pledge me and help me reach my fundraising goal! Every pledge takes us one step further in the fight against cancer. Online pledging is secure and it saves the Canadian Cancer Society money by reducing administrative costs.
I've set my goal at $5000. I believe we can destroy that! Please make a donation to help the cause, and if you are around on June 22, 2019, come cheer us on as we Ride to Survive!!!
Thank You,
Rob
Flash forward one year!
Stupid Covid has messed everything up. The ride was cancelled for the year but the CCS still needs your help!!
On Sept 26, three of us will be riding the 50k portion of the Merritt Crown endurance race. I am taking donations for The CCS if you are so inclined. $2! $5! $10! Anything helps!!
If per chance I can raise the same total as last year, I will ride the 120k event instead. 120k in less than 12hrs. Only a dozen people have done it!!
So please donate if you can! I really want to ride 120k in a day.
Yours in the Fight,
Rob
