They are at it again in 2021, this time riding 200km in one day... July 10th! Their ride will take them from Maple Ridge and back. Watch for more updates on their training rides which, if history repeats, may include the odd pub stop en route!

One of the first events to be announced for 2021, Dave Peerless has convinced his office (Dexter Realty) to jump in to hold a fundraiser for the Ride2Survive. Their fundraising will take place throughout the year but they are holding a "main event" with some of the details below. We are working out details on how others can jump and participate but...
2020 and now 2021 has taken its toll on all of us. The new "covid normal" is far from what we all want to call normal! For the Ride2Survive team, this is also true. What started as a ride that became a fund raiser… it moved into being a "community of like-minded folks" and finally landed on a "family". The problem now is that our R2S family, like o...
Hi all, an update after the tree chipping event this year Our very own Brian Thornburn held his 7th Christmas Tree Recycling/Chipping event and raised $7,700 shared between Cops for Cancer and Ride2Survive. Bartlett Tree Experts are also once again generously donating the equipment and staff for the weekend, Signarama donating the signs, and Willow...

Yes there is one more event raising money for Ride2Survvive! Oct 27 thru Nov 27, Rochelle Davidson will be tackling the following: Rochelle is a 11-time finisher of the 400km Ride2Survive and will be celebrating 15 years as a cancer crusher this month. To acknowledge this, Rochelle commits to riding at least 1500km between October 27 - November 27....
Hi everyone, the ride went well. It was a race but we weren't too caught up in that. In the end though I placed 5th in the 50k men and Sandra 2nd in the ladies. We got to ride some great trails and raise some much needed money I plan on doing the 120k next year. I'll fly the R2S banner again and hopefully we'll be back to normal and I can raise a b...
What a day! Paul has completed the climbs of the North Shore... and raised over $5,000 to boot! You can stil DONATE to Paul here. Thank you Paul for all your work and creativity!
Due to the heavy forest fire smoke, Paul is postponing his Triple Crown effort for one week to Sep 19th. Our own Paul Janzen is heading out this Saturday on a road bike and a mountain bike (not at the same time we're told!) to climb Seymour, Grouse and Cypress mountains. We'll have live tracking of his trek (perhaps on a Trek??) here on ...
Jacob completed his 500km ride2survive this weekend. As life goes (and cancer treatments), the best laid plans are often scoffed at and pushed aside. Here's Jacob's update from Friday: "We arrived in Victoria last night but not the way it was supposed to be. I had to abandon my ride yesterday after 162 km due to major safety concerns. It felt like r...
Please read right to the bottom!! May 19th, 1995. For those of you who know me, I don't even need to tell you what happened that day. For those who don't know me so well, it was the day my sisters and I lost our Mom. To put it simply, she was amazing. Kind. Funny. Beautiful. Smart. Loyal. She would literally walk through a wall for her kids, and he...
We're pleased to introduce, Destanne Norris, to Ride2Survive 2020 – our Fund Raising Club with an Endurance Problem. Destanne will be running 20 km up Silver Star Mountain with two friends on her 60th Birthday on July 6th and was eager to join our club this year to fundraise for Cancer research. She writes, "I was with my mother shortly after she w...
Here's the route Jacob will be riding starting this Thursday July 2nd. 500km in total... holy cow... but that's only 1.85km per year of his age so it can't be that far can it??
Covid 19 has cancelled a lot of cycling events including the Ride2Survive this year. The R2S is the largest independent Cancer fundraising event.
The Covid 219 hasn't stopped the research to beat Cancer so donations must go on.
I will do my part of cycling the length of Vancouver Island from Port Hardy to Victoria (500km) in 2 days to raise well needed money for Cancer Research, 100 % of every dollar you donate goes directly to Cancer Research here in BC there is no admin or overhead costs.
Your support will be greatly appreciated, Cancer is still alive and by supporting me with a gracious donation you will help to safe lives.
I am happy to support the Canadian Cancer Society and fundraise by participating in a 20 km Silver Star Mountain Summit Run. Starting at BX Elementary School, in Vernon B.C. I'll be running up Silver Star Mountain Road to The Pinnacles Suites and Townhomes, then trail running the last 1.5 km to the top of Silver Star Mountain on July 6, my 60th Birthday.
My mom passed away from lung cancer fifteen years ago. And like many others, we've had other family members and friends survive having cancer and those who have left us because of it. I'll be running in memory of my dear, loving mother.
When: July 6 2020
Where: Vernon to Silver Star Summit
COVID 19 has meant the Cancellation of large group gatherings for the foreseeable future. As Cyclist we've been inconvenienced but for registered charities the damage is catastrophic. Did you know that Ride2Survive is the largest independent cancer fundraising event in the country? This year that means millions of dollars of desperately needed funding will not get raised unless we do something.
As avid cyclists, and concerned citizens, we are getting together "vitually" help out. Similar to the historic Ride2Suvive which was a one day 400km road ride from Kelowna to Delta we are going to complete a one day 200km Dirt only ride. The 2020 R2SDirty200. Trust me when I say that 200kms on dirt by yourself is going to be every bit as demanding as 400km of pavement riden as a supported group. Every rider who participate will be making a personal sacrifice worthy of your support!
Something else you may not know is that the Ride2Survive and R2S Dirty200 are 100% efficient for you the donar. What that means is that 100% of every dollar you donate goes directly to Cancer research here in British Columbia. Nothing is taken off your donation for admin or overhead.
EVENT DETAILS:
Thank you in advance for your generous support. Regardless of the rider you are supporting we are all in this together.
Please support my 400 km, two day solo ride to fight cancer.
When: June 19-20 2020
Where: Delta/Surrey/Richmond BC area
Wherein (as Evil Knievel said) I will attempt to summit not 1, not 2, but 3 gigantic rock formations known locally as the North Shore mountains using dual modalities (that’s hipster for 2 different bikes) switching from road to mountain and road again for Seymour, Grouse, and Cypress respectively all while reciting rhythmic utterances of great cultural significance.
Aware as I am that many have suffered economic loss this year it may seem like poor timing to ask you to support cancer research. I respect that and would like to let you know how much your past support means. If; however, you are in a position to help, please click on the link below to make a contribution:
When: Sept 12 2020 (weather permitting)
Where: North Shore MountainsSonya and Steve Tom are heading out every day in August to accumulate 300km on foot!!
When: August 2020
Where: Lower Mainland
Here's Sonya's story:
I’ve been involved with R2S and other cancer fundraising activities for a number of years and would like to continue to support the Canadian Cancer Society in what ever small way I can!
I’ve set my goal at $3,000.00 – Myself and long time friend, Steve Tom, will be walking/running/foot powering through the month of August in hopes of walking a combined 600KM (300KM each)!
So that's $10 a kilometer, who doesn't have 10 bucks to donate !! :)
But any amount is greatly appreciated!!
Donations to The Ride 2 Survive go directly to the cause, I’ve covered my own costs of “The Ride” so everything raised is a designated donation to research for the Canadian Cancer Society - kept right here in British Columbia!!
Additionally, The Canadian Cancer Society does not take any administrative costs out of your donation for the Ride2Survive, and R2S has made the decision that all money donated goes to the cause! It is money well spent!
Need I say more? Thanks in advance for your support!!! See you on the road or trail or mountain top !
Cheers to you and yours, stay healthy my friends!
