KEY POINTS TO THE TRAINING PROGRAM.

  • Ride or exercise 3-4 times a week.
  • Have a weekly long ride which should be based on distance in conjunction with where we are in our Team Training Ride schedule.
  • Once a week have a recovery ride where you just do an easy spin.
  • Once a week have a ''Outside the comfort zone workout" Challenge yourself whether its speed intervals or hill repeats.
  • Use some other type of physical activity you like as an alternate way of gaining fitness. ie bootcamp, crossfit, spin class or any other favourite sport you may have.
  • KEEP IT FUN AND REMEMBER WHY YOU ARE DOING THIS!!!!!!!

LAST WORDS:

Consistent training, week by week, for the whole 21 weeks is the way to go!

Continue riding on the "off weeks". Maybe pick up a club ride. To get stronger you need to be riding 3-4 times per week.

Remember you must give yourself REST and RECOVERY days - those are the days your body rebuilds and gets STRONGER!

Learn to ride in all types of weather as we could have anything on ride day. What clothing works best for you in different types of weather?

Taper off the last couple of weeks as per the plan - you can't pack in 1000kms of training right at the end to try to make up for training you missed.

MOST OF ALL- REMEMBER WHY YOU ARE OUT THERE AND WHY WE DO THIS! BE PROUD OF WHAT YOU ARE SETTING OUT TO DO

If you do the training, you'll be READY on ride day!
