Announcing RideOn 2025

Coming August 23rd 2025!

RIDE ON 2025 – A new event to continue a fundraising tradition!

On August 23, 2025, hundreds of cyclists in British Columbia, Canada will participate in a mass bike ride to raise funds for cancer research in British Columbia. Registration at ride2survive.ca will open on May 8th, 2025.

A group of cycling enthusiasts, who have decades of combined fundraising experience, is launching an independent fundraising event with the Canadian Cancer Society to continue their proud tradition. "Ride On 2025" is a one-day event taking place in Langley on Saturday, August 23, 2025. Canadian Cancer Society's Signature Programs Director, Matthew Campbell, says, "Canadian Cancer Society is thrilled to provide the fundraising platform for this newly created, inspiring cycling event!"

Organizer David Desrochers, a leader of the Brainiacs cycling team, explains how the new event gathers a community that is passionate about fighting cancer. "Seeing miraculous discoveries and new treatments gives us hope, and fuels our fundraising and riding," says David.

Ride On 2025 was organized, in part, due to the cancellation of the Tour de Cure, a BC-based event that raised more than $131 million in donations over 16 years. "The energy and commitment of this community needs an outlet now that BC's largest fundraising cycling event no longer exists," says David. The BC Cancer Foundation announced the cancellation of the Tour de Cure in October 2024.

"Riding in the Tour de Cure was a hugely rewarding experience for thousands of us," David says. "It was also an important event for volunteers and donors who supported their friends and family. Ride On will continue this tradition." "We are thrilled to have our Ride On 2025 event expertly managed by the proven and well established Ride2Survive Society, that has been passionately hosting fundraising cycling events since 2005" reports David.

Consistent with all R2S events, all money raised by cyclists, will go directly to cancer research. All Ride On event costs are covered by entry fees and sponsorship.

"Ride On is, by design, a grassroots event," says David. "As a one-day ride, we'll offer the challenge, energy, and fun of a mass ride, without the extra expenses of several meals and overnight accommodations and everyone: riders, donors, supporters and volunteers; will have the satisfaction of knowing every fundraising dollar will go directly to cancer research."

There is a lot of passion in the Tour de Cure and Ride2Survive cycling communities for events with such a meaningful purpose. We want to give these communities a chance to continue to put that energy to good use."

After building the largest team in the history of the Tour de Cure, a total of 376 cyclists for the Brainiacs, David Desrochers is tapping into his extensive rider rolodex to generate enthusiasm for Ride On 2025. Several sponsorships are in place, more are in the works, and hundreds of riders and volunteers are at the ready, waiting for registration on May 8th.
